9:00 am until 3:30 pm with lunch break

Class Dates: May 18th, June 1st, June 8th, and June15th. A makeup session will be held on June 22nd.

The knowledge of perspective is invaluable to the artist and is fundamental to good paintings and drawings. This series will improve your artwork immensely and will lay the foundation for future projects you may have felt were beyond your ability. It is open to artists of all media and skill levels, but the classes will be taught using pencil, pen, and watercolor. In this course, you will learn all the secrets needed to make your paintings look 3-dimensional including aerial and linear perspective, overlap, color, size and shape variations and value. You will also learn how to paint shadows and reflections in perspective.

With this very practical approach, you will learn and apply the basics using fun and interesting projects. Subjects will include bottles, vases, goblets, hay bales, interior scenes, books, fields, streams, roads and buildings. We will also tackle complex features of buildings including roofs, chimneys, doors, windows, arches, and stairs. One of the projects includes painting Pat’s studio in North Carolina. As a very special project, you may draw or paint a subject of your choice or use your creative powers to personalize one of Pat’s suggestions.

This course is equivalent to eight three-hour lessons. A complete course description and supply list is available on request.

Fees: $120 (includes drawing paper and tools if paid in advance) or $15 per class. Because of our busy summer schedules, you only have to pay for those classes you can attend.
