Street Painters Chalk at Artworks

Masterpieces on St. Clair Street were created by members of the Florida Chalk Artists Association during the ArtWorks of Eau Gallie Fine Art Festival. Three generations (in the picture on the right above) were on their knees. Eau Galllie artist Ed Baranowski created a landscape, his daughter Lee Jones created a portrait of her father, and granddaughter Brin Jones created Kermit the Frog.

In a cash prize competition funded by FCAA the following awards were given: In the adult division, first prize went to Carolyn Schultz (painting of woman in red sweater), second to Lee Jones (for her wonderful rendition of her father, Ed Baranowski), and honorable mention to Janet Tombros (for the jolly fellow in the third picture below).

In the youth division: First place went to high school senior Zoey Carr (daughter of Carolyn Schultz), second to senior in high school Leah Tapley, and third to 6th grader Brin Jones.

Street painting is a perfomance art. The chalk artists enjoy visiting with people at the festival, and accept ooohs and aaaaaahs as their reward. Many ArtWorks visitors came back each day to see the progress on the art works.

Ed Baranowski (on his knees below) was the coordinator of the Eau Gallie ArtWorks Street Painting Event for the Florida Chalk Artists Association.
